I arrived in Djibouti on April 25, 2026. Following a rest day, I began my 3 day, 2 night tour of Djibouti, visiting Lac Abbe (make sure you bring mosquito repellent and coils), the canyon, the Ardoukouba volcanic area, Tadjourah, Sables Blancs and the Maskali and Moucha Islands. Finding and effectively communicating with tour operators has the ability to be a trifle tricky due to a general lack of tour companies operating out of Djibouti. Djibouti Adeventure is a family run operation with Mr. Akram doing the tours and his wife handling the emails and made my tour of Djibouti a true and memorable off the beaten path adveture! Thank you Mr. Akram!

We did the 3 day tour to Lac Assal, Tadjoura and Foret du Day. The trip was awesome! Akram is a great guy, a smart driver and a fantastic guide. I visited Djibouti for the duration of 4 days. The trip was excellent. I was able to see the most interesting places in the country. The landscapes are really very beautiful, almost unreal, and Lake Abbè is of absolute beauty. The trip was more than interesting and everything was organized to perfection. It's all right. I relied on the experience of Akram and Mohammed of Horn Expedition, with whom I had visited Somaliland in 2024. A big thank you to Akram and all the others, who worked together expertly on the spot to make the trip a success. Highly recommended.

Akram took my family and I to Lac Assal, the Foret du Day, and to lunch in Tadjourah. He was an expert guide. We appreciated how knowledgeable he was about Djiboutian terrain, culture, and history. He provided interesting context for all that we encountered. In addition, he is a very pleasant individual. We enjoyed the conversation with him as we drove. We had a range of ages in our family group and Akram expertly adjusted the schedule to accommodate our pace. We highly recommend Djibouti Adventure and Akram for traveling in Djibouti!!

We spent 5 days in Djibouti in May 2025. Although it was extremely hot, it was also rewarding as we were virtually no other tourists, which made the experience truly unique. The tour was fascinating. Lake Abbe is otherwordly and Lasse Assal is unique, plus we got to see the Rift Canyon and the Volcano Region, as well as Tadjoura and Djibouti City. Our guide Akram was the best! Funny, kind, knowlegeable. We will not forget his hospitality and is Somali Tea.

Amazing adventure in a very unique setting. We drove to Lake Abbe, a beautiful and almost otherworldy place. Here I spent the night under the stars amongst the local herders (as only tourist). After this we drove back and visited Lake Assal and some other sites. Akram is an outstanding guide and the service was good. Highly recommended!

We had spent 4 days in Djibouti with Akram, He said s very good and experienced tour guide and good driver with machinists. He really knows the place and know where is best photo shoot point. Drive without GPS and he know the car and road very well in the way to the desert. He also is good guy to give food and drinks to the poor people. He brings us to visit his home and the development zone and It’s very nice to know better about Djibouti. Very appreciated. Strong recommendation the tour guide and the tours.

I was introduced to Akram through a colleague of his from Ethiopia that I know personally. Prior to booking my trip, Akram and I had a phone conversation on WhattsApp to get to know each other. We have very similar backgrounds (I was born in Djibouti and grew up in Ethiopia), and we hit it off! Akram and I spent an UNFORGETTABLE time over 11 days exploring Djibouti as well as Dire Dawa & Harrar (in Ethiopia). He is fully conversant in 7 languages, and he is amazingly knowlegeable about a wide range of topics: history, geology, culture, politics, etc, and most importantly, he is A TON OF FUN to hang out with. Listening to local music, laughing, learning, and exploring. Best time I've had in a long time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Akram for your Djibouti adventures.

Akram took me on a multi-day journey in Djibouti, and I had a truly memorable time not only at each destination but also throughout the journey.He has a deep knowledge of Djibouti and neighbouring regions in Ethiopia (including 5 of the regional mother tongues apart from English and French) and is a great conversationalist/historian during long off-road journeys (which is no concern given his comfortable 4x4)
